Shandong Taishan: Wu Xinghan's Achievements

Wu Xinghan, a famous Chinese engineer and educator, was born in Shandong Province on January 12th, 1947. He graduated from the Beijing University of Technology in 1968 and obtained his PhD degree in civil engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 1975.

After completing his education, Wu Xinghan began his career as a researcher at the Shandong Academy of Sciences, where he worked for several years before being appointed as the head of the institute. In 1985, he was selected to become the first president of the Institute of Hydraulic Engineering in Shandong Province.

During his tenure as president, Wu Xinghan made significant contributions to the development of the province's hydraulic engineering industry. He oversaw the construction of many major infrastructure projects, including the Jinzhou Bridge, which is one of the longest bridges in China.

In addition to his work in hydraulic engineering, Wu Xinghan also made important contributions to the field of environmental protection. He advocated for the use of renewable energy sources and promoted the development of sustainable practices in agriculture and forestry.
